Sayadaw Ashin Ottomasara,
Founder of Thabarwa

Sayadaw Ashin Uttamasara was born in Katha, Sagaing Division, Myanmar on Sunday 26th October 1969.

Since his youth he placed full value on education. He passed Matriculation

in 1986 with flying colors. After completing a B.A (English, Honors) from the University of Yangon in 1992, he became a young entrepreneur and successful businessman within a short period of time.

Faced with difficulties and frustrations in running a complex business

for 7 years, he sought refuge in the Dhamma in 1999. With the help

of a Dhamma friend,

he entered the Mogok Meditation Centre at Insein Monastery for

a five-day meditation retreat, becoming initiated in Dhamma

\contemplation and practice.

From February 1999 to January 2002 he deeply concentrated on meditation.

He became so devoted to Dhamma that he was able to reduce

his business calmly, without much attachment.

For the propagation of Dhamma he donated all the assets he had accumulated during 6 years of entrepreneurship. He then concentrated on charity, morality and insight contemplation to find the perfect Truth.

In 2002, he was ordained in Yangon by Sayadaw U Nayyasagara and started to teach Vipassana Insight Meditation.

Global Business Leader | Hospitality & Social Impact Strategist

Fueling success across industries and borders for  a decade. I bring a wealth of experience in establishing and managing thriving businesses in diverse sectors – from hospitality ventures to social enterprises.

  • Born into a world of promise, I embraced life with an unyielding optimism. Driven by ambition, I built a life centered around success, constructing a world of material comfort and professional acclaim. However, beneath the gilded exterior, a growing sense of emptiness gnawed at my soul.

  • A cataclysmic event shattered the illusion of invincibility, plunging me into an abyss of despair. The loss of everything I held dear—my home, my business, stateless, without money, divorced while in prison , lost contact to my daugther and with only one pair of shorts and 1 t-shirt coming out of jail   —forced me to confront the fragility of existence. In the depths of this darkness, I found myself alone, stripped bare of all possessions except the indomitable spirit that refused to surrender which was supported by the eminence help from family and very close friends, to bail me out .

  • Driven by a desperate need for purpose, I sought refuge in the quietude of a Buddhist monastery. There, amidst the serene surroundings and the wisdom of the monks, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery. The teachings of compassion and selfless service resonated deeply, igniting a spark of hope within my weary heart.

  • With a newfound clarity of purpose, I emerged from the monastery determined to transform my pain into something meaningful. I founded Thabarwa International Foundation, a beacon of hope for those struggling in the shadows. It was a way to repay the kindness, Good Deed, extended to me and to offer a lifeline to others grappling with adversity.

  • Fleihi, our digital platform, is the embodiment of this vision. It is a testament to the belief that technology can be a powerful tool for social good. Through Fleihi, we aim to create a world where compassion, innovation, and collaboration converge to address the most pressing humanitarian challenges.

  • My journey from affluence to adversity, from despair to purpose, has shaped me into the person I am today. It is a testament to the human spirit's capacity for resilience and the power of compassion to heal. I invite you to join me on this extraordinary path as we strive to build a better future for all.

  • [Include a strong call to action, such as "Join us in creating a world of compassion"]

The “Thabarwa House”

is a Good Deeds House placed

on the platform of Buddhism

and built with:

Wisdom as the roof

Concentration as the floor

Morality as the walling

The house can be moved, not the Foundation platform. But remember, every house needs a solid platform, so it will be constructed from Project to Project, land to land, Country to Country, to Rich and Poor, Young and Old, Healthy and Sick.
